what we call ourselves is how we see ourselves

“I am out with lanterns, looking for myself.”
― Emily Dickinson
Hello and welcome! This is my first blog post on a website I created to capture the process, progress and product coming from my attic studio. When I began to create the layout for the "about" page, I was faced with a dilemma—how do I talk about who I am and what I am doing? To be honest, I am a designer, first and foremost. I was trained in school to use my creativity as a way of bringing beauty and clever communication between brands and their customers (see portfolio here). Along the way, the identity of "art student" melted away and "professional designer" took center stage. This digital platform, along with an instagram page, is my step into a new yet old world, one where I create for me, but also for you. Throw in "poet" and I am loosing my mind with the anxiety and excessive levity that these titles bring. I am venturing into a new craft and digging deep to understand what I have to say as a human who makes and writes. You will see topics about books, textiles, sustainability, design inspiration, but most of all, poetry—from the "real poets" and maybe from me. I hope you enjoy.
